Rasayana Chikitsa- The Body Revitalizing and Anti-Ageing Therapy

Rasayana is a word taken from the Sanskrit language, which means: Path (āyana) of the essence (rasa). It is a science of increasinglife expectancy, as per early ayurvedic medicine. Rasayana Chikitsa; also known as Rejuvenation Therapy aims to restore body’s vitality to its fullest. In other words, it aims to retain the youthfulness of body and mind. Rasayana is one important branch of Ayurveda among its eight branches. It is very popular in ayurvedic medicine Pune. The concept of Rasayana is based on two- principles of conservation and transmutation of energy.

Impurities accumulated through stress, over busy life and toxins affect our health, happiness and inner sense of well-being. The rejuvenation therapy aims normal functioning of enzymes in the tissue cells. It keeps the nerves and the mind in a state of tranquility and soothes the bones as well. The benefits of Rasayana or rejuvenation and revitalization therapy are listed below:

Conduct is very important in Ayurveda as it is believed to rejuvenate the human body, the person undergoing Rasayana is taught in wayswhich are conducive to the development of society. As per the ayurvedic massage centre Pune, there are two ways to take Rasayana Therapy. They are as follows-

1. Kutipravesika
This is also known as kayakalpam. In this, the person taking the rasayan stays indoor in a special cottage. The diet and instructions given by the physician are to be strictly followed by the person taking the therapy. Panchkarma therapy is given before taking the rejuvenation. The duration can range from two months to four months. Anyone in the age group 25 to 70 years can undergo this procedure. This therapy is not very suitable for a person who has a job or profession to carry on.

2. Vatatapika
This is particularly prescribed for individuals who find it difficult to follow a strict diet, and for people who are weak with some illness.This therapy does not hinder your normal work. In this therapy different herbal Ayurvedic preparations are taken as per the instruction of the physician. These medicines are taken on an empty stomach at dawn. Panchkarma therapy is not necessary for this. Duration of this procedure is 21 to 60 days.

Various herbs/medicines are used for the procedures. This therapy is helpful for people suffering from stress, migraine, insomnia, obesity, shallow breath, weak senses, rough and dry skin, weak appetite, weak memory, chronic digestive problems. However, this does not imply that only individuals with such health problems should resort to Rasayana Chikitsa.
